XL Philodendron Scandens - Sweetheart Plant
Philodendron Scandens is known as the Sweetheart Plant, or Heart-Leaf, due to the beautiful leaf shape.
The sweetheart Plant is a vining Philodendron and can grow to astonishing lengths, either supported as a climber or left trailing from a hanging basket or shelf. A row of trailing Philodendron scandens makes a fantastic living, green curtain. Mature plants may produce spathes of green-white flowers.
Watering: Keep the soil moist at all times. Allow the top of the soil to dry-out slightly before re-watering. Will tolerate some degree of drought better than having its roots too wet.
Light: Do best in medium light but can tolerate bright light and some degree of shade. Avoid direct sunlight however, as this may scorch the plant.
Humidity: The Sweetheart Plant will do fine in normal home humidity, but thrives in more humid environments. Consider giving your Philodendron scandens an occasional misting for best results.
Temperature: Prefers average household temperatures, between 16°C and 24°C is ideal with a minimum of 13°C. Can tolerate a draught but it is not recommended for best results.
Origin: Philodendron scandens is native to Mexico, Brazil and the West Indies.
Toxicity: Philodendron are poisonous to humans and animals. Keep away from children and pets and take care when handling.
This plant is supplied in nursery plastic hanging basket.
