Ficus Elastica Belize Ruby Rubber Plant 80cm
The Ficus elastica ruby is an attractive, rose-tinted variety of the Ficus elastica. Just like the more common Ficus elastica, the ruby Ficus elastica have glossy ovate leaves and a vertical growth habit. The only difference is that their leaves are marked in red, dark pink, and cream. The vividness of the red varies between plants.
The ruby Ficus looks so impressive that you might suspect it requires advanced gardening skills but thisis far from the case!
Light:These colorful plants need a lot of light in order for their leaves to remain variegated. Bright, indirect light is a must.
Water: Keep the soil always slightly moist (not waterlogged) and never let it dry out completely. Wait until the top portion of soil has dried out before watering your Ficus elastica ‘Ruby’ again.
Humidity: Average humidity levels of 40% to 60% are acceptable. The Rubber Tree is not very demanding when it comes to humidity. This lack of interest in humidity is a result of the plant’s thick and rubbery leaves.
Temperature: Natively grown in tropical areas, the Ficus elastica ‘Ruby’ is a lover of warm temperatures. Average room temperatures of around 70℉ and 77℉ (21℃ and 25℃) are favorable.
Origin : Ruby is native to tropical regions of India and Malaysia.
Toxicity: Rubber plant's (Ficus elastica) common name does not imply that it is pliable. Its milky white sap contains latex, which was originally used to make rubber. Because this sap is poisonous to people and pets, rubber plant is best put out of reach of children & pets.
