Agloanema 'Lady Valentine'

The Chinese Evergreen compact form makes it a perfect indoor plant for just about any surface in your home.  Low-light tolerant and incredibly adaptable, you might wish you discovered this houseplant sooner. Aglaonema commutatum 'Pink Valentine' is an attractive, variegated pink and green-leaved, evergreen perennial cultivar from the aroid family, Araceae.

The species it was bred from originates from tropical and subtropical climates in Asia and New Guinea. This tender plant is adapted to low light conditions, making it a good choice for growing as a houseplant. It won't cope with freezing temperatures, bright indirect light is best and moist, well-draining soil. It produces beautiful, variegated green foliage with pink and dark green speckles. The lance-shaped leaves are mostly pink to whitish, with green margins.

The variegation will be more pronounced when grown in stronger lighting, but take care with strong sunlight as this can damage the leaves. Flowers can appear, but this is uncommon, particularly when grown indoors as a houseplant. They are white in colour and similar to those of Peace Lilies.

Light: While Aglaonema is often included on lists of low light tolerant plants, you'll want to keep Agloanema 'Lady Valentine' in medium to bright indirect light. This cultivar requires brighter light to maintain its pink color. Generally the brighter the light your plant gets the deeper pink the color will be. Be careful to keep the leaves from any direct sun, as they will burn.

Water: Allow about half of the soil to dry before watering again. When you are watering make sure that the soil is fully saturated and allowed to flow from the drainage holes to ensure your plant is properly hydrated. Often times multiple plants are potted together in a single pot to create a fuller look. Fully saturating your soil ensures that all the plants in the pot are getting equally waterer.

Humidyty: Aglaonema is native to very warm and humid areas in nature. High humidity indoors would benefit these plants, however they are very tolerant of average indoor humidity!

Toxicity: If ingested, may cause a harmful reaction in pets.
