Echinocactus Grusonii ‘Golden Barrel’

Cacti are great plants for busy people who want something to sit on a sunny windowsill, but don't want to spend too much time looking after them. This beautifully Echinocactus Grusonii is a barrel cactus, often called Mother-in-Law's Pillow or Mother-in-Law's Cushion. It is deeply ribbed, each of which is covered in creamy yellow spines. Woolly white hairs grow on the crown and cup-shaped, vivid yellow flowers may form on mature plants. An all round spiky ball of fun.
Golden Barrel Cactus is easy to look after, but they do need plenty of bright light.
Light: Needs lots of bright, indirect light and some sun but avoid harsh sunlight as this may scorch the plant.
Water: Allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering. Do not over water.
Temperature: Happy anywhere between 10-27°C. Avoid cold draughts.
Feed: Boost with a high potassium fertiliser during the summer.
Care Tips: The spines are sharp - take care when handling.
Height and Growth Rate: Ultimate height 50-60cm. Very slow growing.
Origin: Central Mexico.
